Parent Coaching

for Virginia Families

Parenting is hard, and you were never meant to do it alone. If you’re anything like the hundreds of parents I’ve worked with over the course of my career, you love your children more than anything — and sometimes feel confused, overwhelmed, and conflicted as to how to parent them.

We have easier access to information than the generations of parents that came before us, but sometimes the information feels more like noise than helpful counsel. I’m a nonjudgmental listener, an experienced clinician, and a mom in the trenches myself — and I would be honored to work with you as you become the parent you want to be.

I offer parent coaching for kids of all ages. As a parent coach, I have three main goals:

  1. Understand your child’s behavior. Meltdowns, tantrums, powerful emotions, anxiety, school struggles, sleep issues, screen time battles, sibling conflict….I’ve seen it all, and there’s no one size fits all approach. You’re the expert in your child and your family. I’m the expert in child development and evidenced-based parenting approaches. Together, we’ll figure out the WHY so we can follow through on the HOW.
  2. Support you in identifying your values and inner voice. There’s no one right way to be a loving parent. One of my favorite parts of my job is helping each and every parent articulate their values, connect with their own inner voice, and achieve their dreams of how they want to show up for their kids.
  3. Coach you in following through. It almost never works out in real life the way it does in the parenting books. I’ll be with you every step of the way as we break unhelpful patterns, implement a plan, trouble shoot as needed, and establish consistency for your family.

Interested in counseling for yourself?

In parent coaching, we are focused more on a specific parenting problem or a difficult dynamic at home. Sometimes parents benefit from more direct support with their own anxiety, emotions, perfectionism, and self-doubt. In those cases, parent counseling is indicated (but can still include support on specific parenting questions and concerns).
