Therapy for Teens & Preteens in Virginia

Growing up is complicated. There are the age-old challenges of shifting relationships, increasing independence, identity formation, and powerful emotions. Social media, the internet and AI have transformed teenage life in ways many adults never experienced themselves. And for some preteens and teens, anxiety, OCD, and perfectionism make life even harder.

I work with preteens and teens (ages 11+) who are struggling with anxiety, OCD, perfectionism, school-related anxiety and avoidance, intrusive thoughts, and fears that are getting in the way of everyday life. I help young people understand what they’re experiencing, develop coping skills, build confidence, and enjoy life again.

I use evidence-based approaches including CBT, ACT, and ERP to help young people understand their anxiety and develop tools to manage their difficult thoughts and feelings. I believe that therapy for preteens and teens should feel like a safe place to land, while also providing a supportive space for growth.

A child’s mental health struggles often impact the entire family. Most parents desperately want to support their child, but don’t know exactly how to do that. With your child's knowledge and consent, I may share education and strategies to support treatment at home. When appropriate, parent coaching is also available.
